U.F.O. Sighting Over Mission B.C. - Local Resident Genuinely Shocked
77An ordinary night, just like any other...
It was about a quarter to eleven at night, and I figured I had better get my butt in gear. My son needed a lemon for a school science experiment in the morning, and I still hadn't made my way to the store to buy one.
Tearing myself away from CSI Miami, I put my sandals on and grabbed my purse. If I hurried, I could probably catch the end of the program, an episode I hadn't seen, which was a rare occurrence.
My son, who turned twelve a few days ago, was sound asleep, so I asked the upstairs neighbour to keep an ear open, just in case, while I was gone. We chatted for a bit about her car, that I had inadvertently backed into earlier this week - lucky, lucky me - and after reiterating that I wouldn't be gone long, I walked to the driveway to unlock my van.
I never noticed that before...
I have no idea what made me look up. I was giving a cursory glance around, like I usually did before I opened my vehicle, and happened to spot a trio of unusual lights hanging stationary in the sky a few hundred yards away.
I didn't immediately start screaming hysterically that we were being invaded, mostly because I hadn't ascertained exactly what the lights were, and also because I'm not the type given to over-the-top-theatrics, (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!)
I remember wondering if there was some sort of tower close by that I hadn't noticed before, but rejected that idea. It was dark, but not so bIack as to not be able to see the actual structure. I studied the lights, still confused as to why I hadn't seen them before now, and began pondering what I was actually seeing, all of which took me a matter of seconds.
The lights were bright red, the same hue found on hundreds of Christmas trees each year, and formed a right angle, triangular pattern. I heard the sound of an aircraft, and pondered that the lights might be the underside of a jet, (because of the configuration) but as they didn't appear to be moving in any particular direction, and the only aircraft I know of that can hover isn't one that graces the skies in our neighbourhood, I was forced to discount that theory also.
All thoughts of lemons and CSI evaporated from my mind as I continued to watch the lights. The noise of the plane's engine grew louder, yet the sound didn't seem to be coming from the direction I was looking. After what felt like a minute, (but was closer to thirty seconds) I risked a quick glance to confirm my suspicions. Sure enough, I saw the airplane fly over the roof of our house, to my right, its white lights flashing on the underside.
My brain suddenly made a connection, and I realized that I could not be looking at an aircraft, as all aircraft lights blink, with the exception of their landing lights, and they do not have 'all red' running lights.
Time to marshall the troops
At this particular point, I decided I shouldn't be the only person witnessing this phenomena, after all, I needed support! So, without taking my eyes away from the spectacle, I stumbled towards the front of our house, and began knocking on the door until it was answered.
When my neighbour finally came to the door, I excitedly asked, "Do you see that?" She came out onto the front step and looked where I was pointing.
"Oh," she said, "That's a satellite."
Now I ask you, as I did her, when have you ever seen three satellites in orbit, in a triangular configuration, this close, and not move? The only time I have witnessed a satellite traipsing across the night sky, it was so small and distant, that it could have been mistaken for a star. Not withstanding the fact, and here I repeat myself, it was moving! Having rejected another, seemingly, logical explanation for what I was seeing, I continued to stare in awe at the spectacle before me, my brain clicking over and over again that this wasn't real!
After what felt like an interminable amount of time, which, in actuality was maybe the space of five minutes from when I first spotted them, the middle light that formed the left angle of the triangular pattern, started moving slowly to the right, until it was directly below the one above it. At the same time, the light representing the right angle, began moving left, until it was centered below the other two.
I glanced at my neighbour, and with a huge grin on my face, said, "Splain that one!" All she could do was smile back at me, shaking her head. We watched in disbelief, as all three lights appeared to shrink in size and colour, continuing to stay in the now vertical formation, until first, the middle light disappeared, followed closely by the bottom one, and finally, the top light winked out, leaving no trace in the now pristine, night sky.
Joint hallucination?
We couldn't discount what we had seen, aside from the both of us hallucinating at the exact same time, which by all counts, is as preposterous as the theory suggests, despite what the adjacent picture implies, and I will add here, that neither one of us partook of any hallucinogen, so we were left with the only logical, or illogical - depending on our own personal views - explanation as to what we had witnessed.
My neighbour smiled indulgently at me and returned to whatever I had dragged her away from, to bear witness to my discovery, and after a final, almost disbelieving glance skyward, I reluctantly returned to the task of purchasing the necessary lemon for my son's school project.
Epilogue
I must admit to being very disappointed by the fact, that although I did have a witness to prove that I wasn't 'off my rocker', she was decidedly unimpressed by the event. Her son-in-law, who I had been hoping would be the one to join me in my discovery, (and would have been just as excited and intrigued as I had been,) wasn't home.
After returning from my lemon expedition, and participating in a silent 'should-I-shouldn't-I' debate, I called the local constabulary to ask who I could phone to report what I had seen. He returned to the line from answering a 911 call, and politely gave me the number of the UFO B.C. Hot-line, which I promptly called and left a message for a call back.
It will be most interesting to see what transpires from my message, and I will definitely keep you informed of the results, should there be any. If you see a UFO, the local number for the province for British Columbia is:1-604-878-6511.

I find this to be exciting. It is too bad your neighbor did not. People can be strange that way. I will be sure to post a link to this on my hub. What timing!
How could people not get excited? Do they need a cracker up their eye sockets or something? You lucky thing I say. Did they get back to you - the UFO bureau I mean?
We are indeed not alone! There is a universe of mysterious beings out there...
This is exciting, please keep us informed!
dori
Enelle, if life hands you lemons, don't wait to share them with aliens! Make lemonade quick! :P
Fun story. I wish I had been with you instead of your neighbor. i would have been duly impressed!
I remember coming back from my sister's wedding and seeing something that was - bizarre. I saw this white light in the sky, the size of moon ... so bright that there were four people in the car and it was blinding the vision of everyone. And after around 20 seconds the light gradually started shrinking and then vanished all of a sudden! Dunno if it was a UFO or a figment of our imagination! :D
P.S. Nobody was drunk.
Yes please keep us posted if they get back to you.
(or perhaps the men in black will show up and erase your hub. lol)
I tried to post a comment on your follow up but it wouldn't let me finish. The webpage kept jumping back to your home page - I think the aliens are watching. Or maybe it's the men in black trying to stop me.
Anyway, I was trying to say that I've never seen a UFO, but my daughter did a few months ago, and I have a hub page for people who not only want to see one but who want to make contact with aliens. I don't know if it really works or not.
I've seen enough strange things not to doubt, but why do I NEVER have a camera at hand when these things happen?
Wow! Amazing! keep me up to date!
Take Care,
Jim
I have never seen a "UFO" but I have not lived to be 52, and been through things in my life not to believe that there are other things in this Universe. There are mysterious things that happen every day.
January 22, 2007. I looked outside and saw a huge circular disk on my front lawn. A big circle of snow was melted and the grass was burnt. To this day I have the circle of burned grass on my front lawn, video, pictures too. But the police and authorities won't release any information.
Hi Enelle!
Great hub, thanks for sharing your experience. I am a fan :)
Really well done hub enelle! Top Job
My husband of 35 years is a charter boat captain in the Fl. Keys & the Everglades, One late night he & a paying client was on thier way home from Flamingo Fla & was visited by 5 UFOs shaped like a V, on their way back to the marina these UFOs hovered over the boat at the same speed the boat was going. He said the lights where very bright, almost blinding, then one by one very quickly they disapeared, He & his client reported it, & it was investigated, that is the last we heard.
hey even i saw a ufo but no one is believing
To my way of thinking it would be almost impossible to think that we are the only inhabitants of a planet in the entire universe. Too many people (credible people) have reported seeing things such as you have reported to totally discredit the idea of U.F.0's.
I have a theory, Enelle, that we earthlings are simply being watched. Obviously we are not as advanced with regard to space travel as they are...and we earthlings are much too combative and childish with our constant wars and disputes with not only our countrymen but inhabitants of other countries around the globe. They are probably waiting for us to become more advanced before any meaningful contact is initiated.
You were not alone to witness the Phoenix event. Many people saw them, it has been published in various newspapers and on facebook by UFO groups. I definitely believe we are not alone in this small universe. Aliens walk amongst us, some look like us and are in contact with super powers beyond our government. Keep an open mind there is a third dimension a thin vale that acts as a mirror to the other side. One day we will all find out the truth. I liked this post and gave you my vote. Thanks for the read.
So this happened almost a year ago now, Enelle? Might be that it's time for you to make lemonade again soon, huh? Perhaps next time "they" come to visit, you'll have something refreshing to drink...then can ask them why they didn't at least send you a postcard in all this time, eh? I mean how DARE they not give a better sign and allow your neighbor walk away unimpressed!? Humphffffff! I'd have been pretty excited, too, if I were in your place. And ticked a little at the friend's/neighbor's lack of response and questioning...
Maybe this year you can invite your friend/neighbor over for lemonade while you both watch the Aliens return? If there's no admitting to seeing UFOs, then at least you'll probably get compliments on the lemonade? Have your vid cam ready, eh?
Those 4 lights in Mission. Many people seen them. People came out of their business's and watched as they dissapeared. I knew they were moving too fast to be anything of explaination..I was hopin to come to a conclusion. one person said it was heat lamps. another said satelites. but I knew it was something more. as well as many others who saw
great hub- Ive seen some UFOs too check out my hub on it... great hub........

I have seen a few UFOs and wrote about them they were not regular aircraft - I lived near an airport so I have seen planes land and take off since I could walk- none of these were regular planes - I wrote a hub about it too-

i remember when i was about 4 or 5 years old. I was living in Princce rupert b.c at the time.It was about 11:30 at night,me my aunt and my mom were at a house a few blocks up from the sea plane base. we decided to take the dog out for a walk. when we got outside the dog across the street saw my dog and followed us.as we were walking to the sea plain base, we walked up to this dock that went striaght and then a right onto the watter. there was holes through the fence, me,my aunt, my mom could see this really, reallly bright light on the other side of the fence because there was holes. when the dogs walked onto the doc and were about to take a right, witch me and my family members didnt. they looked to their right and put their tails under there bodies and ears down and hauled ass up too the house i guess.there was still a bright light, it came around the corner on the doc about 10-15 feet away . we saw a red light it looked like an electric ball, and it was changig shapes from circles to ovals.we started running up the hill, as we were running it hovered across the ground following us changing shapes no sound.we kept running towards the house. we got there, as we looked out side it was in the middle of the road and shot up in the sky. not reported just by family and friends
I know about it because I am an alien hybrid

Hey this is too kewl - I remember when most of Prince Rupert saw UFO lights over Metlacatla Straits and Dundas Island (the airport). Of course, I missed seeing them, but they caused quite a stir as it was not only a daylight sighting, 3/4 of the city's population saw them, and the DOT was called in to speak with airport authorities. Big doings! - What fun for you!
